David Violi et Pauline Buet

Artistic Direction - Pauline Buet & David Violi

Chamber music is almost like a magic spell. Some talk about alchemy, but for Pauline and David, it's all about empathy... Hands and minds vibrating in unison to cast an enchanting piece of music. Carved, tamed, the wand is not made of wood but of their friendship and their humanity.

Of course, the white rabbit always ends up disappearing from the hat and when the music stops, everything will dissolve in the air on a last murmur. But be without fear, the bodies have a memory too and the pleasure does not end without leaving the vestige of an happy subsistence.

i giardini lives on the edge of two dimensions, seeking at the same time to crystallize a unique fading moment coming from the past, but taking care to always be part of our present... in an everlasting movement. Their music thus shines a wise lightness that can be paralyzed by too much ostentation. They do not follow fashion, they anchor their music in the world of the living.

A polymorphe ensemble shaped around thematic concerts projects, collaborations with singers or videographers, i giardini always stays on the same course: the promise they made to themselves to give back what music gave to them and offer this present even to those who would not have thought to want it.

Pauline Buet

Pauline lives to be a binding element. Welcoming others and building bridges between the centuries by crossing baroque, jazz and classical, Bach and Kaija Saariaho, bringing the arts closer together. Pauline knows that the music has to be collective or will not be.

Calm with character, her outbursts have the beauty and the justice of those who are not angry, knowing that the truth imposes sometimes to get out of oneself.

She is a hedonistic rebellious, never sacrificing anything life could bring, embracing both an award-winning concert career and the education of her three young boys. Pauline lives quickly, with joy and determination.

David Violi

If he had not been a pianist, David would have dreamed of learning all the languages of the world, already captivated by the profoundness of Chinese, Italian, English, German, Wolof ... -  and their ability to reveal to us our hidden parts, at the turn of an expression, in the nuance of a sentence.

What makes David adore his life as a musician is this richness of the words and sounds of the musical material. Trying to find each time the same perfection among an infinite variation.

Soloist and chamber musician, David cultivates a diverse musical universe but always savor the confidence that he finds in i giardini, seeing his stage fright disappear when he is surrounded by his associates, knowing a precious moment will follow, a gift as a much a joyous ritual.
